2 Weeks In!
Hi lovies,
Sooo it's been a little over 2 weeks since I touched down in sunny California and I have to say I AM COMPLETELY LOVING MY NEW HOME! Not only was I greeted with amazingly beautiful weather, but the people I have met have been more than welcoming. I've spent the first 2 weeks applying for jobs, getting settled and just trying to soak everything up. It's hard when you first move somewhere because you forget that you actually LIVE there now, so you have remember you have unlimited time to do everything and don't have to cram it all into one weekend. So far I've turned in countless resumes and applications and met some really cool people who have been helping to show me the ropes of the cali lifestyle :)
In terms of differences, I have to say out here it feels like nobody works. No matter what time of the day it is, people are out and about, at coffee shops, at the pool, beach, you name it. It's actually pretty cool because people here work in more creative industries like music, fashion, film, etc and a lot of people do consulting or work for themselves so they have the freedom to make their own schedule. Another thing I've noticed is that people here aren't as star struck as people that live outside of LA. Mainly because star sightings happen on the daily here, and people live amongst the "stars" so it's not a big shock to see people just walking in your grocery store or mall and not look twice.
A lot of people have told me that people in LA are really fake and if you aren't giving them gold, they don't want it. In my opinion, every city has people that can be fake and use you to get where they want to be and it's all about proper networking and connecting with people who can be beneficial friends. I never came here with the outlook that everyone is fake so, in the process I've been able to meet some really cool down-to-earth people so far who are like-minded and have naturally helped me out in my transition process.
But so far, overall I have to say I love it here! I'm so excited I made the decision to move and I have faith that a job will come through soon so I can continue getting settled and making this my home!
